This email was sent to all Marion Staff Members on 11/18/2025. Students, parents, community members, please consider submitting a nomination for Marion's 2025-2026 Teacher and/or Support Staff of the Year! The links for the nominating documents can be found at the bottom of the page.
The email is as follows: "This is a recognition program that’s been on my mind (and heart) for a long time...It was something that was done at one of my former districts (when I was a teacher, not administrator) and I truly believe that rolling this out here would be a great way to recognize a top (along with hopefully recognizing so many more) educator and support staff member. With that, I'd like to formally launch the 2025-2026 Marion School District Teacher and Support Staff of the Year Recognition Program.
In a PreK–12 building like ours, many of us wear multiple hats, teach across grades levels, and devote yourselves to every child who walks through our doors. Your impact runs deep, and I believe this will help to celebrate that in a meaningful way.
I'm not sure if this program has been done here in the past, but under my tenure, we will name our first Marion School District Teacher/Support Staff of the Year for the 2025-2026 school year. Each person nominated is a team member who represents the very best of what it means to teach, care, and lead in our one-building, one-family district.
Here’s how it works:
Who can nominate: Any staff member, student, parent, or community member.
Who can be nominated: Any certified teacher or support staff: classroom teachers and paraprofessionals, secretary, kitchen, custodial, library, bus drivers, maintenance, ANYONE in these important supporting roles.
Who reviews nominations: A committee to be comprised after nominations have been received.
Our 2025–2026 Marion School District Teacher of the Year will receive:
A $250 classroom/professional grant.
A $250 personal award.
Special recognition.
The opportunity to represent Marion School District at the regional (and possibly state) level.
Our 2025–2026 Marion School District Support Staff of the Year will receive:
A $200 personal award.
Special recognition.
***There is no regional or state level competitions for this type of an award.
This program isn’t just about selecting one individual. It’s about recognizing the daily dedication and excellence that each of you brings to our school district. You make an incredible difference, EVERYDAY...not only to your students, but to one another, to our families, and to the heart of who we are as a school community.
